Deputy rescued as bees swarm his patrol car

August 18, 2010 12:30:28 AM PDT
It took a group of beekeepers to rescue a North Carolina sheriff's deputy from his patrol car on a highway in Knightdale on Tuesday. Authorities said Wake County Deputy Brandon Jenkins was stuck in his cruiser for several hours, as bees swarmed the car along Highway 264. He admitted using deadly force when a few bees got inside.

Beekeepers sprayed the bees with water so they could be collected more easily. The confused bees were apparently left behind by a beekeeper, whose truck had broken down in the area.

An exit ramp was shut down for hours until all of the bees could be removed.
