Green, leafy veggies lower diabetes risk

Eating your vegetables, particularly the green leafy ones, can help significantly reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.Researchers at the University of Leicester analyzed data from previous studies involving 220,000 men and women.

They found that men and women who ate one-and-a-half extra servings of green leafy vegetables a day reduced the risk of type 2 diabetes by 14 percent.

Experts attribute the lowered risk to antioxidants and magnesium found in green leafy veggies like spinach.

The study is published in British Medical Journal.
