Green, leafy veggies lower diabetes risk

LOS ANGELES Researchers at the University of Leicester analyzed data from previous studies involving 220,000 men and women.

They found that men and women who ate one-and-a-half extra servings of green leafy vegetables a day reduced the risk of type 2 /*diabetes*/ by 14 percent.

Experts attribute the lowered risk to antioxidants and magnesium found in green leafy veggies like spinach.

The study is published in British Medical Journal.
