Officers say that according to the suspect's estranged wife and three teenaged children, Padilla began yelling and banging on the windows as the family slept inside. When the children heard their father get into the vehicle and start it up, they climbed out of their beds and left the room.
Officers say that's when Padilla backed his van through the wall several times, ripping through the wall. The force of the impact pushed the beds inward and caused glass to come crashing down in the bedroom.
Police say the children's quick actions kept them from getting seriously injured.
Padilla was charged with assault with a deadly weapon-domestic related, child endangerment and felony vandalism.
