The fire reportedly started at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Dept.
Firefighters on scene reported the fire was burning at a moderate rate in dense brush.
There were at least 250 firefighters on scene, as well as six air-tankers and three helicopters. Two bulldozers were also assisting firefighting efforts.
The fire started near Clinton Keith Rd. and Avenida La Cresta, according to the fire dept.
The California Highway Patrol was expected to close Clinton Keith Rd. at Bear Creek Rd.
Fire agencies asked SoCal Edison to shut power off in the area as a safety precaution. As a result, there was electrical service interruptions for about 1,000 customers in the area.
No injuries were reported.
No structures were reported threatened.
