SB to reconsider citywide 40-ounce beer ban

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. The council passed the ban in May in an effort to prevent crime. The ban has not been enforced so far.

The ban prohibits selling beer or malt liquor in individual containers of 40 ounces or less as well as wine or malt liquor-based coolers, sold in packages smaller than four packs.

Tuesday, council members will consider a less stringent measure that would still tighten rules for liquor stores but leave out citywide prohibitions on 40-ounce beers and some other alcohol products.
