Drunk driver hits 9 people, drags toddler

Miguel Sandoval, 43, was allegedly drunk when he hit nine people with his SUV, critically injuring a 2-year-old girl who was dragged more than 50 feet along a Santa Ana street.

A suspected drunk driver hit nine people in Santa Ana Monday night, including a two-year-old girl who was dragged more than 50-feet. She and several others were taken to hospitals for treatment.Miguel Sandoval, 43, was arrested Monday and faces numerous charges. He remained jailed Tuesday.

Witnesses said they saw a Chevy Suburban cutting across lanes, jumping a curb and driving on a sidewalk along the 1400 block of McFadden Avenue Monday night.

Police said the SUV hit a mother and her 2-year-old daughter, trapping both under the vehicle and dragging them about 50 feet. The car then hit seven other people.

The girl, along with another 2-year-old girl, remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition Tuesday. Her mother was treated for a broken leg.

All other victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.
