Feds sue Walnut for blocking Buddhist center

WALNUT, Calif. The /*U.S. Justice Department*/ is suing the city for denying a permit to a group looking to build a Buddhist center.

The lawsuit accuses the city of unfairly turning down the permit for the /*Chung Tai Zen Center*/ in 2008.

It also accuses the city of treating the Buddhist group differently than other religious organizations whose building permits have been approved in the past.

The Buddhist group has since relocated to Pomona.
