Third suspect sought in casino winner murder

SANTA ANA, Calif.

Two of the suspects in the killing, Tad Carroll, 41, and Barbara Hamel, 47, appeared in court for the first time Monday.

They're accused of following Chu Bui, 55, to Santa Ana, taking his $10,000 winnings and then running him over as they fled the scene.

Carroll and Hamel will both have public defenders and will be arraigned Oct. 17.

The third suspect, 26-year-old Michael Ross of Long Beach, allegedly saw the victim cash in his winnings and called Carroll and Hamel to set up the robbery.

Ross and Carroll were charged with a similar robbery in June.

Anyone with information on Ross or his whereabouts is asked to call /*Santa Ana police*/ at (714) 245-8400.
