L.A.'s Homeboy Industries gets $1.3M contract

Homeboy Industries, a Los Angeles gang intervention program, is getting a new $1.3 million county contract to help at-risk youth and adults.The L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved it Tuesday.

Homeboy Industries will run a pilot program that includes tattoo removal, job development and re-entry services for at-risk youth or gang members who want to change their lives.

The non-profit Homeboy Industries had to lay off 300 employees in May. Its organizers cited lack of funding from public and private sources.
