Robber holds up Subway with BB gun

LOS ANGELES The LAPD released surveillance video showing the suspect, a black man wearing a white baseball cap and a black hoodie, ordering a sandwich in the downtown shop. As the employee prepared the sandwich, the suspect pulled a pellet gun pistol from his jacket and jumped over the counter.

The employee ran into the background where another employee was startled to see the robbery in process. The suspect then herded both employees back to the front counter, forced them to the ground and then stole the money and left.

Witnesses said he left in a 1998 to 1999 red Ford F-150 pick-up truck. Police found the pellet gun at the scene.

The crime happened amid a 17 percent drop in robberies in the downtown area this year.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the suspect of has information to call Detective Lisa Schueller, Central Robbery Unit at 213-972-1248. Anonymous tips can be called into Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS(8477).
