Last March, Mendozamora was driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:45 a.m. on the Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point at high speeds. He lost control of the car and crashed into a tree, killing friend Jesus Avalos-Munguia, 24, who was his passenger, and seriously injuring his other passenger, Daniel Higuera.
When police arrived at the scene, Medozamora exhibited signs of intoxication.
