Deputies said the man assaulted one of them before fleeing on foot. Deputies allegedly caught up with him, and the man assaulted a second deputy.
Officials said the man tried to disarm one of the deputies and threatened to kill them.
The deputies used a Taser to subdue him. Officials said the man quickly grew non-responsive and could not be revived by paramedics. He died later at a hospital.
Investigators said the man had drugs in his possession and appeared to be under the influence.
Coroner's officials were trying to determine the cause of death.
His name has not been released.
The incident is under investigation.
