Participants said the messy melee is a great way to let off some steam.
"It's a way to let loose, it's 10 minutes of squishing tomatoes in people's faces that you know and that you don't know," said romp attendee Alison Szarcynski.
"It's 10 minutes of shear laughter. You just can't stop laughing," said another participant. The day started with a bloody Mary contest among 11 different bars.
