Child thrown from car in Palm Springs crash

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. /*California Highway Patrol*/ officials said the crash was reported at around 11:40 a.m. A yellow pickup truck driving eastbound on the 10 collided into the center divider, sending a child flying out of the vehicle.

The crash occurred near Indian Avenue.

Though one death was confirmed by CHP, it was not clear if the victim was the child. Other injury reports from other possible victims were not immediately available.

The eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed for approximately one hour as /*CHP*/ conducted their investigation. At around 12:30, two lanes of the four-lane freeway were reopened.

The crash is under investigation.
