Authorities need the public's help finding a man who offered an 11-year-old boy a ride to school in Dana Point last week. The boy's grandmother had just dropped him off at a bus stop on Crown Valley Parkway near Sea Island Drive last Thursday at 9 a.m. The driver asked the boy if he could give him a ride, so the boy ran back to his grandmother's car.

When the grandmother confronted the suspect, he said he was a teacher and thought the boy might need a ride. He then drove away in a faded black four-door Mercedes Benz.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department said the suspect is a white male, 50 to 60 years old, with short dark brown or gray receding hair.

Anyone with information is urged to call the sheriff's department at (714) 647-6194.
