CDC: Calif. gets 'A' for swine flu handling

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said California gets an "A" when it comes to how the state handled last year's swine flu pandemic.The CDC said state officials responded quickly and efficiently, with most counties getting shipments of the vaccine within 24 hours of requesting it.

CDC experts credit the California Department of Public Health, saying their training, testing and planning were key to being prepared in the face of the pandemic.

California shipped out about 2 million dose of vaccines and antiviral medications to local health departments, statewide.
