Reward offered in prom shooting

Investigators are hoping a $50,000 reward will help them find the gunman who shot and killed a man outside an after-prom party in Venice.The reward is being offered by the Los Angeles City Council.

Michael McGuire, Jr., 21, was shot in the back of the head as he stood on a sidewalk in the 2400 block of Louella Avenue just before 2 a.m. June 13.

A second person was wounded.

McGuire died about 12 hours after the shooting.

Anyone with more information on the crime was urged to call (310) 482-6370, or (877) LAPD-24-7.

Witnesses can choose to remain anonymous.
