Neighbors raise funds for drowned child

VENTURA, Calif. People have been gathering at a makeshift memorial for Alaina Stockdill, who allegedly was drowned by her mother in a bathtub.

The little girl was found dead Monday.

On Saturday, those who knew her sold food and accepted donations from the public.

"We wanted to help with the funeral and hopefully get some sort of memorial headstone for her with her picture, some wreaths for her grave and some balloons so that all the neighbor kids can release balloons in her honor," said neighbor Sheryl-Jo Bedal.

The girl's mother, Blair Stockdill, is charged with murder and child abuse.
