Man caught breaking into Riverside house

RIVERSIDE, Calif. The suspect, 34-year-old Perry Eugene Watkins, smashed a window to get into an occupied home in the 3100 block of Sturbridge Court at around 11:30 p.m. When the homeowner confronted the intruder, Watkins ran out of the house and fled in a vehicle.

The victim notified police, and officers were able to locate the Watkins and pulled him over. He was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, the car Watkins was driving was reported stolen from Riverside.

Watkins was booked for grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, residential burglary, theft with a prior conviction and additional miscellaneous violations.

Police believe that Watkins may have been involved in similar home burglaries or attempted burglaries in the area.
