Gov, legislators meet, but no budget agreement

September 23, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders met again Monday night but there was no word of a final agreement on a state budget.

The so called "Big Five" agreed last week on the framework of a plan to close the state's $19 billion deficit.

But meetings this weekend didn't result in further progress.

No specifics have been announced, but it's believed plans include about $8 billion in cuts.

California has been without a budget since the fiscal year began 89 days ago, the longest impasse ever.
