The incident began at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, when Westminster police officers went to a McDonald's restaurant at 7112 Westminster Blvd. where the woman had requested help. Police say the victim had "visible bruising of her face and upper torso."
The woman then led officers to a playground next to the Christ Church of Westminster at 14061 Chestnut St., where she said the attack occurred. The victim told officers she had met the suspect at a gas station and agreed to accompany him to the playground, police said.
Technicians from the police department's Forensic Services Unit went to the crime scene and began gathering evidence left behind by the suspect, police said. Based on fingerprint evidence, collected at the scene, police say FSU technicians found a match to Marco Gonzalez-Estrada. The victim later identified Gonzalez-Estrada as her attacker, according to a police statement.
