Police impersonators rob drug truck in Valley

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. Both the driver and his delivery truck were recovered.

Authorities said two suspects impersonating police officers kidnapped the driver at a Rite Aid store on the 13000 block of Riverside Drive at about 7 a.m. The driver was attempting to make a delivery at the Rite Aid.

"The truck contained a number of pharmaceutical goods, sundries, including prescription narcotics," said LAPD Sgt. Mitzi Grasso. "There has not been a complete inventory of the truck. However, it's believed that they were after the drugs."

The victim was found a short time later at a Subway store at Victory and Sepulveda boulevards in the Van Nuys area. He told police he had been dropped off one block north at Sepulveda Boulevard and Haynes Street.

The LAPD said they found the delivery truck in Tarzana about five miles away on Burbank and Reseda boulevards in the parking lot of Spirits World Liquor.

"The suspects forced the victim back into his truck, took the truck, they dropped the driver uninjured approximately two miles away, and then we recovered the truck approximately five miles away," said Grasso.

Police said the suspects dumped the truck before taking off in a van. They were last seen heading eastbound on Burbank Boulevard.

Grasso said the suspects were armed, but she did not know what kind of weapons they were carrying. No suspect description is available at this time.

The suspects may have fled in a van or in a dark blue or black 1994 or 1995 Honda Accord with a spoiler, aftermarket rims and tinted back windows.
