Contest in Spain pays winner to fall asleep

MADRID, Spain In /*Spain*/'s first siesta competition, contestants are given 20 minutes to lie down, and doctors determine how much time they actually sleep.

Extra points are awarded for snoring, sleeping in goofy positions and wearing outlandish night gear.

The best snoozer in the nine-day event wins 1,000 euros, which is about $1,400.

The goal of the contest is to promote siestas, a traditional post-lunch nap cherished by Spaniards.
