Falling in love may help ease chronic pain

The best way to beat chronic pain may be to fall in love, according to researchers. A fresh romance apparently acts as a potent painkiller.

Researchers said falling in love stimulates the brain's reward pathway, much like the rush of an addictive drug. It triggers the release of the chemical dopamine.

Committed relationships don't work the same way. However, scientists said doing something new and exciting with a longtime partner can stir up that old passion.
