New bill could stop O.C. fairgrounds sale

COSTA MESA, Calif. The state announced the $100 million deal to real estate management firm Facilities Management West.

The company would pay $20 million at first and the rest over 35 years.

An earlier deal to sell the 150-acre property to the city of Costa Mesa fell through.

On Wednesday afternoon, Democratic Assemblyman Jose Solorio announced plans to introduce a bill to block the sale, saying the fairgrounds should remain under public ownership.
