According to reports from Lima, Officer Carina Nalvarte was leading a police caravan that was transporting a prisoner.
The officer entered an intersection and looked to her right. That's when the truck slammed into her from the left.
The officer was apparently unconscious for nearly 40 minutes.
She survived but suffered a series of injuries, including a broken clavicle.
