Bus driver in head-on crash hailed as hero

GLEN AVON, Calif. A driver, /*Joseph Anthony Garcia*/, said to be suicidal, slammed his SUV into the bus carrying seven high school students on Wednesday.

Three students and the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. The teens said their driver probably saved their lives.

"I didn't realize he was really trying to aim for me, and I was like 'what's going on?' The kids were saying 'what is that guy doing?' I said, 'I don't know, just hold on, brace yourself,' and I just turned to the side and slammed on my brakes," said Henry Montoya, the school bus driver. "Every bus driver is trained for this. We do it every day, and for me, my training just took over."

Prosecutors are considering filing as many as eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon against Garcia.
