Amber alert canceled, 9-yr-old boy found safe

LOS ANGELES According to police, the boy, who is autistic, got into an argument with his mother and left his house on a scooter to a nearby gas station on the corner of Buckingham Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

A passerby noticed the boy and reported him as a possible found child to police. The boy was described as wearing checkered boxer shorts with a towel wrapped around his waist.

While on the phone with dispatch, the passerby saw the child get into a red Ford Mustang. Around the same time that evening, the boy's parents called the police and reported their son missing.

Police treated the situation as a possible kidnapping and searched throughout the night.

Around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, police located the Mustang and conducted a traffic stop. Authorities found the boy in good condition.

The driver, an African-American male, was taken into custody. The investigation is currently ongoing.
