Coach of the Week: Bob Johnson

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. And Bob Johnson still has plenty gas in his tank.

"I'm certainly not tired," Johnson said. "It gives me the same pleasure I had 40 years ago. I love working with the kids and putting together some type of game plan."

In a decade at Mission Viejo High School, he's brought seven league titles, but he humbly coaches around different numbers: life is 10 percent about what happens, and 90 percent about how you react to it.

Career wins tell you there's something about helping kids that's in Johnson's Blood.

Johnson has spent five years raising money and awareness of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

/*New York Jets*/ quarterback Mark Sanchez said when he was still at the /*University of Southern California*/, Johnson was one of the most influential people in his life outside of his parents.

Sanchez reached back to Johnson when he was considering to stay at USC or turn pro.

Today, you don't have to look very far to see Johnson has a way of connecting.

One of his current players, Ethan DeSilva, is quick to respond what the coach has taught him about life.

"Striving for perfection every day," DeSilva said. "Coach pushes us to our very limits and makes us better people every single day."
