Man fatally shot at Pacoima birthday party

PACOIMA, Calif. LAPD officers were called to a reported shooting on the 11500 block of Fellows Ave. in Pacoima at approximately 3:09 a.m. Sunday. At the scene officers found a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics declared the man, Francisco Leon Jr., 21, dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives determined Leon was approached by a man toward the end of the party and was asked for his gang affiliation. Leon had no known gang ties, according to detectives. The unidentified man then pulled out a gun and shot Leon, then left the scene.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 25 years old, wearing dark clothing.
