Riverside was one of six U.S. cities to receive the recognition. Other cities to receive the award include Chongqing, China; Eindhoven, Netherlands; Ipswich, Australia; Issy-les-Moulineaux, France; Quebec City, Canada; and Chattanooga, Tenn.
The award, which is distributed by the Intelligent Community Forum, specifically recognized /*Riverside*/ for its municipal Wi-Fi, the city's Digital Inclusion Program as well as its SmartRiverside programs. The award also recognized the city for its e-waste processing and its collaboration with schools and private technology companies.
Intelligent Community Forum officials said it will announced the Top Seven Intelligent Communities of the Year Jan. 19, 2010.
