Oxnard suspect turns himself in for murder

Rene Ramos, 25, turned himself into Oxnard police, admitting to murdering 21-year-old Oxnard resident Adrian Lerma following a fight in August.

A 25-year-old Oxnard man turned himself in to authorities and admitted to killing someone following a fight.Rene Ramos contacted Oxnard police and told investigators that he fatally shot a person back in August.

He had heard from his family members that detectives were asking them questions about his whereabouts, and he wanted to come clean to avoid any further bother to his relatives.

On Aug. 17, Ramos said he got into a fight with Oxnard resident Adrian Lerma, 21, on San Jose Street in Oxnard. The fight escalated to murder when Ramos allegedly shot Lerma to death.

Ramos was arrested for murder and booked into Ventura County jail.
