Bank robbery parolee arrested for iPod robbery

OJAI, Calif. A 14-year-old male victim was on the trail near Ventura Ave. and Highland Dr. in Mira Monte Sunday. The victim told deputies he was approached by a Hispanic male and female. The male suspect demanded the victim give him his iPod. When the victim refused, the suspect pulled out a knife. The victim gave up the iPod and left the scene.

Deputies were told the suspects had later been seen near 11496 North Ventura Ave.

Deputies tracked down Adrian Castro, 18, and Christina Arellano, 20, at a McDonald's restaurant in the area. Deputies found the iPod and the knife in their possession. The victim positively identified the two as the suspects.

Castro is on parole for a January 2008 Oak View bank robbery.

Castro was booked on charges of robbery, participation in a criminal street gang, and violation of his parole. Arellano was booked as an accessory to robbery.
