Cathedral City gang shooting kills 2, wounds 4

LOMA LINDA, Calif. Police believe it was a drive-by shooting perhaps by a rival gang in the neighborhood. Six people were hit by gunfire. The 3-month-old was hospitalized at Loma Linda University Medical Center. His condition was not released.

Police say the Cathedral City neighborhood is known for gang activity.

Wednesday, friends and family members placed candles and flowers on the sidewalk near the spot where six people were shot.

"I'm frustrated. I just want whoever did this to pay for what they did. Two people died and three are still injured," said Jenny Sanudo, sister of one of the victims.

Sanudo said her 15-year-old brother Moses was shot eight times. He was listed in critical condition Wednesday. Police say he is a gang member.

Sanudo said her brother was just out for a walk with his 16-year-old fiancee and their 3-month-old son. The infant was wounded in the attack. Moses's fiancee, who he was set to marry this weekend, was killed.

"We lost somebody we loved, my brother's wife-to-be. We loved her a lot, and knowing we could have lost my brother, or the baby -- it's hard," said Jenny Sanudo.

Police say the suspect, or suspects, drove up, rolled down the window and asked "Where you from?" Then, not even waiting for an answer, they opened fire.

The driver is described as a light-skinned Hispanic man, between 20 and 25 years old, clean-shaven, with dark hair, last seen wearing a black beanie.

The suspect vehicle is described as a gold- or champagne-colored Chevrolet HHR with tinted windows and stock wheels.
