'Megamind' makes mega debut with $47.7M

LOS ANGELES The DreamWorks Animation release included the voices of Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. Ferrell's character hatches a plot to fill the void in his life after finally defeating his superhero nemesis.

Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis' comedy, "Due Date," opened with $33.5 million to take the No. 2 spot.

Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" featuring Janet Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg premiered in third place with $20.1 million.

"Red" came in at No. 4 with $8.9 million, and last week's No. 1 "Saw 3D" fell to No. 5 making $8.2 million.
