Schwarzenegger talks to Leno about Prop 19

November 9, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on "The Tonight Show" and weighed in on California's failed attempt to legalize marijuana."No one cares if you smoke a joint or not, but this Proposition 19 went a little bit too far, I think. You know it was written badly," the governor told Jay Leno on the show that aired Monday night.

Five weeks ago, Schwarzenegger signed a law that made possession of up to an ounce of marijuana the equivalent of a traffic ticket.

The violation carries a penalty of no more than a $100 fine and no arrest or criminal record.

On Election Day, voters rejected Proposition 19, which would have allowed adults 21 and older to possess and grow small amounts of marijuana.
