Cracked windshield diverts OC-bound Delta jet

SANTA ANA, Calif. Delta Flight 1795, traveling from Atlanta to /*John Wayne Airport*/ in Santa Ana, reported an emergency to the FAA.

The FAA said the plane, a Boeing 737, landed at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport without incident at 12:29 p.m. Central Time.

Passenger Mike Fleming of Orange took video from inside the damaged plane when the pilot announced they would have to make an emergency landing in Dallas because of the cracked windshield.

"There was initially - when he said there was a problem in the cockpit - there was a gasp and the people in front of me were kind of huddling together," he said.

The passengers transferred to another plane and arrived in Santa Ana at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time, according to a spokesperson at John Wayne Airport.

"I want to commend the pilot and co-pilot and the crew on that flight. They were all superb and kept us calm," said Fleming.
