2 Ohio women, boy stabbed, dismembered

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio Knox County Coroner Jennifer Ogle released the autopsy results on Saturday, saying Tina Herrmann, her son Kody Maynard and her family friend Stephanie Sprang were stabbed multiple times in the back and chest.

Their bodies were later dismembered, placed in plastic garbage bags and stuffed into the hollow of a large tree deep in the Ohio woods.

There were no signs of sexual assault, and the three were likely killed sometime on Nov. 11, Ogle said. Authorities said all three were killed in Hermann's home in Howard, about 40 miles northeast of Columbus.

Authorities said Matthew Hoffman, an unemployed tree-trimmer, gave them the information that led to the discovery of the bodies four days after police found Herrmann's 13-year-old daughter Sarah Maynard bound and gagged in his basement.

Hoffman has been charged with kidnapping and is being held in the county jail. The 30-year-old is the only suspect in the killings.
