According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Dept., the incident was reported at approximately 2:55 p.m. The department was assisting the Border Patrol in the investigation, along with Beaumont Police and the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred along the 10 Freeway at exit 111. A Border Patrol agent stopped a vehicle with three people inside. One of the three assaulted the agent.
The agent was flown to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries.
