California DMV delayed in processing licenses

LOS ANGELES The California /*Department of Motor Vehicles*/ is about two weeks behind schedule in processing applications.

The delay is being blamed on new licenses with enhanced security measures.

Officials said it takes more time for employees to scrutinize the new licenses, which are designed to be harder to tamper with.

The /*DMV*/ processes 38,000 applications for new or renewed licenses daily.
