Because the child's father, Angel Garcia, and her stepmother, Yadira Onofre, did not seek medical assistance for the child's injuries, /*Moreno Valley police*/ and the sheriff's department launched a homicide investigation.
Upon completion of the autopsy, authorities discovered that the child's injuries were due to abuse. Officials determined that Garcia and Onofre physically abused the child.
Garcia was arrested for murder and child abuse, and Onofre was arrested for child abuse and being an accessory to murder.
Both remained jailed Friday.
