James Bond outshines Darth Vader at auction

November 26, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
James Bond managed to outshine Darth Vader at a movie memorabilia auction in London on Friday.A Walther air pistol held by Sean Connery in a poster for the film "From Russia With Love" sold for $437,206 to an unidentified telephone buyer.

That's at least 10 times more than it was expected to bring in.

A Darth Vader costume was billed as the top item in Christie's auction, likely to change hands for as much as $365,000, but it failed to sell at all.

It is believed to have been used in "The Empire Strikes Back," the second film in George Lucas's sci-fi series, released in 1980.
