Calif. to change household products' formulas

November 27, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
The California Air Resources Board has voted to reduce the use of volatile organic compounds in about a dozen categories of household products. The new rules are designed to cut the amount of smog forming emissions generated by the products, which include glass and oven cleaners, furniture polish, countertop sprays and bug killers.

Makers of the household products will have until 2014 to change their product formulas.
