Westwood may see bus-only lanes on Wilshire

November 28, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
A proposed plan for bus-only lanes could help ease congestion along a heavily used stretch of Wilshire Boulevard. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will consider the proposal next month, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The proposal calls for bus-only lanes along Wilshire Boulevard between MacArthur Park and Centinela Avenue with a gap in Beverly Hills.

However, some residents in Westwood want an exemption for Wilshire between Comstock and Selby avenues.

They say bus-only lanes would cause major backups in an area where traffic already moves smoothly.
