'Dr. Laura' show moves to satellite radio

NEW YORK /*Schlessinger*/ had said in August that she was going to quit her syndicated radio program after she used the N-word on the air 11 times while talking to a black woman. She apologized for the incident and announced that she would leave after her contract ends.

Her traditional radio program ends Dec. 31. The "Dr. Laura" show will begin live the following Monday at 2 p.m. on Sirius XM. The show will air three hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Sirius said the show will also be available online and through mobile phone applications. Schlessinger signed a multiyear deal with the company.

Schlessinger's current show is heard by about 8 million people a day, according to the trade publication Talkers. Sirius XM has 20 million subscribers, but it's not certain how many of them will be interested in the show.
