Metrolink-car crash kills 1 in Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. The /*crash*/ happened around 9:30 a.m. when a northbound train originating from /*San Bernardino*/ struck an eastbound car that was crossing Francisquito Avenue.

According to police, witnesses saw the car going around the grade crossing to avoid the warning device.

Of the 125 passengers aboard the train, two were transported to an area hospital. One reported a back injury and the other received medical attention at the scene regarding a pacemaker and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No crew members were injured.

The San Bernardino #321 train halted operation due to the incident, and passengers were transported in buses. Also as a result of the incident, train #811 was delayed about 30 minutes coming out of San Bernardino.
