Investigators say an oil fire was responsible for the explosion in the engine of a Qantas Airbus A380 that caused it to make an emergency landing last November. The Rolls Royce engine was found to have a manufacturing defect that caused oil to leak and catch fire, causing a turbine disc to explode and send shrapnel into the wing of the plane.

A similar oil leak was found in several other A380 plane engines, all manufactured by Rolls Royce, which have since been grounded.
