December 4, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
As part of a new pet safety education campaign, Riverside residents are being urged to keep their dogs on leashes. The Department of Animal Services plans to remind residents to always have their dog on a leash before leaving their homes. This is a way to keep the dog safe from other animals and potential road hazards.

The safety campaign will officially kick off at two popular dog-walking locations: Sycamore Canyon and Mount Rubidoux. The program will run from Dec. 6 and through Jan. 15.

There are two dog parks in Riverside that provide safe off-leash activities within enclosed areas: Carlson Dog Park at 4700 Buena Vista Drive and Riverwalk Bark Park at Pierce Street and Riverside Parkway.
