Police: LB predator gropes girls, thanks them

LONG BEACH, Calif. Police said seven sexual assaults have happened in the area between July 15 and Aug. 5.

Diara Conrad, who walks in the neighborhood every day after school, was surprised to find out about the assaults.

"I don't feel safe at all now knowing that," Conrad said. "Everyday, I come home from school pretty late. There's a lot of people here who are gang related."

According to police, all of the attacks happened in apartment complexes.

The suspect approaches a female victim from behind, gropes her and then says thank you before taking off on foot.

That has Conrad thinking differently about how to stay safe.

"Get home while it's still bright outside," Conrad said. "If I come home late, I'll have someone with me."

The suspect is described as a black male between the ages of 16 and 22, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, and weighing 140 to 160 pounds. He is also described as having shaved or short hair and walking with a limp.

Anyone with information is asked to call /*Long Beach Police Department*/'s sex crimes tip line at (562) 570-7878.
