2 charged in USC-UCLA brawl outside Rose Bowl

PASADENA, Calif.

Joshua Elder, 24, of Temple City and Steven Radu, 27, of Monrovia were arraigned in court Monday afternoon in Pasadena.

In addition to resisting an officer, Elder is also charged with the misdemeanor of exhibiting a deadly weapon and Radu is charged with trying to free Elder from police custody, which is a felony.

According to police, undercover officers witnessed Elder pull out a knife. The officers identified themselves as law enforcement and tried to arrest him. Elder allegedly fought with officers and Radu joined in. During the scuffle, the officers suffered minor injuries.

Elder is being held on $50,000 bail and Radu is being held on $75,000 bail.

A third man, Arturo Cisneros, 44, was also arrested following the Saturday melee, and charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing two people with a knife.

Meanwhile, video posted on YouTube shows an unidentified man with an object that resembles a knife, allegedly stabbing a man on the ground.

On the right side of the screen, you can just make out the man's arm raised with a blade-like object.

Close to 40 people were involved in the brawl before Saturday's cross-town rival game. Police say alcohol was definitely a factor in the fight. Reportedly the fight began when someone threw a football and it accidentally hit a Mercedes-Benz.

During the fight, 24-year-old Vimal Patel was stabbed in the back, and 27-year-old Joshua Dirling was stabbed in the face. Both are expected to recover.

Two officers suffered minor injuries.
